Don't let criminals gain your online passwords

This is a polite reminder to be extra vigilant with all your DMU passwords and multi-factor authentication codes.

You may have heard of the recent high-profile cyberattacks affecting M&S and Co-op in recent weeks. Many cyberattacks involve criminals impersonating IT staff to gain access to sensitive and personal information.

At DMU, we will never ask you for your password or to input an MFA code. If you receive any emails or calls requesting this information, hang up immediately and contact our service desk on 0116 2506050, via email or by visiting the The Digital & Technology (formerly the ITMS) team in person on the ground floor of Kimberlin Library.

Your passwords and MFA codes should not be shared with anyone, including calls or emails from IT support. No legitimate IT team will ever ask for them. If you receive a request for this information, it is likely a scam that needs reporting to our service desk.

For more information about what you can do to stay safe online, please see our tips on cyber security on the DMU website or contact the Digital & Technology (ITMS) team directly at itmsservicedesk@dmu.ac.uk
